Considering purchase of a '91 Si.

Hey guys, just wanted to say hi. And I was wondering what the common probs with these cars are.

And whats the best aftermarket exhaust for it.

RUST, RUST and more RUST

The rear fenders where it meets the rear bumper and the stupid pices of plastic that lines the fender casues rust.
ALso check the jacking points, and check the floors.
Take a magnet with you and go over the rear fenders so you can see if that have been repaird with thick bondo or not.
Check to wrinkles around the front headlight supports to see if it has been is an accident, they crumple pretty easily.
Check the spare tire well for water damage. My car used to leak water into there somehow, it stoped now. Check the rear hatch for rust right at the bottom and along the sides.

for all the common rust areas for the 4g civ. i wanted to know what i can do to prevent it from coming back, cuz im planning to get rid of all the rust this spring.

For outisde body panels make shure you cut out as much of it as possible. Make shure you get a good rust inhibiting primer in all the little spaces.
Pull out the interior panles and clean and spray the inside of the panels with Rust CHeck primer.

For the floor, if it already has a hole in it, again, cut out as much as possible, weld it the new pieces, and go at it with the Rust Check primer from crappy tire. Whiel you ahve the carpet up spary the entire floor.

If you don;t have rust yet(Lucky ) take off the plastic trim on the rear fenders, spray the inner part of the fenders with Rust Check primer, and wash the car regualary, ESPECIALLY int he winter
